Salvation & Works
One of the most controversial
issues of the day is reflected by the question, “What role, if any, do
works play in the salvation of mankind?” Every cult has its own
unique perspective and sadly, even the body of Christ is nearly as
confused as some of those crazy cults. “Is salvation by grace alone?”
And if so, “What does that mean anyway?” Do I have to work my
way into heaven?”
“If salvation is by grace alone,
does it really matter what I do once I’m saved?” These and other
related questions are very common within the Christian community. It
can all get pretty confusing. Well, thank God that He is not
confused, nor is His word. In fact, the Bible simply and clearly
defines the distinctions between salvation and works.
One of the clearest doctrines of
the Bible is that salvation is based on grace alone. The
scripture says, for by grace you have been saved through faith; and
that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of
works, that no one should boast.. - Ephesians 2:8-9
